The Society for Creative Anachronism is a number of different kinds of fun all stuck together: historical re-creation, historical recreation, roleplaying, cosplay, martial arts, eating and drinking, camping, friendship and fellowship, political gamesmanship, and so on. Often the non-historical fun overwhelms the history. (For example, most SCA music is by contemporary composers, and is about SCA happenings and not medieval ones.) But not always, and it’s not wrong to make songs about your friends’ deeds, of course.
Anyway, the folks from Calontir (the SCA “kingdom” pretty much consisting of Oregon and Washington State) have been recording their members who choose to share. At present, it’s a few songs and poems, but they intend to have up a good many more stories (“there I was….”) and other material. It looks like a lot of fun.

Btw, I am reminded by that page that the Drachenwald SCA pilgrimage in medieval garb to Santiago de Compostela is about to begin. Good gentles all, of your kindness, will you spare a prayer for these soon to be footsore pilgrims? And may the prayers of Blessed Charlemagne and of St. James the Son of Thunder be with them also, as they journey many a weary mile over the mountains to Campus Stella, the Field of Stars.
