The Story of a Soul is a pretty personal book to me, because St. Therese’s book was my childhood introduction to the spiritual life (along with the visionaries of Fatima). Her “little way” is simple enough for a child to understand, but as they say, takes a lifetime to master. That’s why she was named a Doctor of the Church, right up there with Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, et al, even though she died at the age of 24 and never received more than a normal French high school education.
I’m no master of the Little Way by any stretch of the imagination. But hey, I can read! Stick with it, and I think you’ll get a lot out of it. Even if you’re a grownup. 🙂
