Gerusalemme Liberata continues, with a spinechilling spell that infests an ancient wood with spirits straight from Hades. Clearly inspired by Lucan’s ghastly grove, Tasso throws in all sorts of fairy tale and knightly romance detail as well. This Godfrey of Bouillon’s logistics problems could make a fantasy novel in themselves!
